PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 18 -- The Allahabad high court recently set aside the conviction of one Mohammad Ilyas in the 1996 Modinagar-Ghaziabad bus bomb blast case while observing that the prosecution "miserably failed" to prove charges against the appellant and that his alleged confessional statement recorded by police was inadmissible in view of the bar under Section 25 of the Evidence Act.

The bench comprising Justice Siddharth and Justice Ram Manohar Narayan Mishra allowed the criminal appeal filed by Ilyas and acquitted him.
