India, Jan. 16 -- The Madhya Pradesh chief secretary on Thursday told the Indore bench of the high court that 15 deaths in Bhagirathpura were caused by contaminated water, days after a panel of doctors attributed the similar number of deaths to an outbreak of water-borne diseases in the area. Till Tuesday, the state health department had confirmed six deaths due to consumption of contaminated drinking water. "Safe drinking water arrangements are underway, treatment facilities have been provided to the affected, and contaminated water supply has been stopped," advocate Ritesh Inani quoted chief secretary Anurag Jain as saying.
