Dehradun, May 3 -- The Nainital municipal corporation on Friday informed the Uttarakhand high court that it will withdraw the demolition notice issued to Mohammad Usman, the main accused in the rape of a 12-year-old girl last month, and 62 other residents in Nainital.
The division bench of chief justice G Narender and Justice Ravindra Maithani was informed about this after advocate Kartikeya Hari Gupta raised the matter in the court, arguing that the notices issued by the civic body on Thursday, provided only a three-day window to vacate alleged encroachments on government land, violating Supreme Court guidelines mandating a 15-day notice period.
