India, April 4 -- Once dismissed as a dated and even controversial tattoo choice, lower back tattoos-commonly referred to as "tramp stamps"-are making a strong comeback. As the Y2K aesthetic continues to influence fashion and beauty, Gen Z is embracing this once-taboo ink placement with a fresh perspective.

Cleveland-based tattoo artist Melissa Martell, who has noticed a rise in lower back tattoo requests, believes the trend's resurgence is tied to a cultural shift.
