'Private hospitals view patients as guinea pigs, ATMs to extort money'
Prayagraj, July 27 -- The Allahabad high court has come down heavily on private hospitals and nursing home for treating patients as "guinea pigs and ATMs" to extort money out of them as it dismissed a doctor's plea seeking to quash criminal action initiated against him in connection with the death of foetus allegedly caused by a delay in conducting surgery.
The bench of justice Prashant Kumar said that it has become a common practice for private hospitals to lure patients into getting the treatment first before consulting with the relevant doctor.
