'No help for 45 minutes'

India, Feb. 17 -- A few days ago, Poonam travelled to Delhi from Sonpur, Bihar, to stay with her daughter Pammi and son-in-law Pappu Kumar, and on Saturday, it was time to go back home. The whole family decided to drop her off, and as they waited for the train, they took photos - of Poonam with her grandchildren, smiling as she sat next to them on a bench. Minutes later, chaos broke out on the platform. "It was a disaster. There is no humanity here. People were mercilessly jumping and running on top of each other. We managed to escape but my mother-in-law died," said Pappu. "There was no space to breathe, sit or stand. I was there... Helpless. What was my mother-in-law's fault? There was no help for 45 minutes. By then, she had died."
