New Delhi, March 24 -- The mercury shot up across the Capital on Sunday, with the maximum temperature at 34.3degC - three notches above normal, and also more than Saturday's 31.7degC. Clear skies are expected in the region this week, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting the temperatures to further rise in the coming days, and go up by as much as 3-4degC by Wednesday.
"Bright sunshine will be seen, meaning a maximum temperature of 37-38degC is likely by Wednesday," said an IMD official.The minimum was 15degC on Sunday. IMD said increased surface heating in the coming days will also lead to nights becoming warmer, with the minimum expected to be between 18-19degC by Wednesday.
