New Delhi, March 6 -- To make alterations in official residences of MPs, the House panel has increased funds by more than 230%.

The revised limit - from Rs.1.5 lakh to Rs.5 lakh - is viewed as a much-needed hike as MPs require to make alterations from time to time to make space for offices, guest rooms or other changes. Those who live in bungalows and apartments in South and North Avenues, face rising costs due to alterations in old structures.
