India, Oct. 30 -- US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Busan on Thursday, striking a tone of cautious optimism as they sought to ease months of trade tensions. Acknowledging the strains in the relationship, Xi said it was "normal for the two leading economies of the world to have frictions now and then," adding, "Given our different national conditions, we do not always see eye to eye with each other."

The meeting, held at an air base on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea, was their first in several years.
