India, July 14 -- Amid backlash over recent incidents involving Shiv Sena leaders, Maharashtra's deputy chief minister and party supremo Eknath Shinde on Monday issued a strict warning and asked them not to "compel" him to take action.

Shiv Sena's image took a major hit after party MLA Sanjay Gaikwad slapped and punched a canteen operator at the Akashvani MLA hostel in Mumbai for serving him "stale food".

Shiv Sena minister Sanjay Shirsat also hit the headlines for a purported video of him sitting with bundles of banknotes, just days after he reportedly received an Income Tax notice.
