Kolkata, Dec. 19 -- West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said that her government would rename its job guarantee programme after Mahatma Gandhi, in an announcement coming on a day the Lok Sabha passed a bill that seeks to replace the two-decade-old Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA.) "I feel ashamed that they have decided to remove Mahatma Gandhi's name from the NREGA programme, because I too belong to this country. We are now forgetting even the Father of the Nation," Banerjee said.
