PANJIM, March 6 -- After scrutiny, 323 candidates remain in the fray in six municipalities, while 106 candidates will fight it out in the Panaji City Corporation (CCP) elections, scheduled on March 20.

In addition, 66 nominations have been found valid to by-elections to 22 different wards of village panchayats, seven nominations for the Navelim zilla panchayat constituency and three for ward 9 of Sanquelim municipality. The by-elections are also slated on March 20.

Withdrawal of candidatures will take place on Saturday.

In all, 381 nominations were filed across six municipalities, of which 58 were declared null and void while one was rejected. Similarly, 14 nominations, received for the CCP polls, were declared invalid.
