PANJIM, March 6 -- A day after State Election Commission (SEC) resumed poll process in the five municipalities that are caught in litigations over ward reservations, 193 nominations were filed on Friday in these municipal councils, which are set to go for polls on March 21 taking the total to 208 nominations.

Following relief from the Supreme Court in form of interim stay on High Court order on ward reservation and SEC's order to keep in abeyance the polls, the election authority on Thursday issued notification resuming the election process and bringing into force the Model Code of Conduct with immediate effect in five municipalities- Margao, Mormugao, Quepem, Sanguem and Mapusa.
