Brief Summary: Inadvertent Parathyroidectomy (IP) during thyroid surgery may lead to transient or permanent hypoparathyroidism and hypocalcemia, which represents significant morbidity. Patients that suffer from IP and its clinical consequences often require longer duration of hospitalization and additional inpatient treatment and prescription medications.
