Monrovia, May 29 -- The United States Government has pledged renewed support to Liberia's immigration sector in the wake of a growing influx of undocumented Burkinabe nationals entering the country through its southeastern borders.

The pledge was made during a strategic meeting held Tuesday between top officials of the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia and the leadership of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS).

Leading the American delegation was Senior Political Officer Stephen C. MacLeod, who expressed his government's concerns over the rising number of Burkinabe migrants crossing into Liberia, many through unofficial and unmonitored routes.
