Capitol Hill, Feb. 25 -- The majority bloc of the 55th House of Legislature will conduct new elections for the country's representatives at the ECOWAS Parliament on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. This election will replace Liberia's current delegation to the regional body.
The ECOWAS Parliament, a key institution of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), serves as a forum for dialogue and consultation among West African lawmakers to promote regional integration. Established by Articles 6 and 13 of the ECOWAS Treaty, it allows representatives to discuss and agree on matters affecting the region.
The decision to hold a new election follows concerns raised regarding the selection process and adherence to ECOWAS protocols.
