Monrovia, June 7 -- The Chairman of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Cllr. Jangar Kowo has been released from police custody following his arrest by the Liberia National Police (LNP) on Saturday for allegedly obstructing police functions.

Kowo was detained during a protest calling for the release of former House Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa and several other lawmakers currently held at the Monrovia Central Prison.
Footage from the scene shows Kowo being manhandled, handcuffed, and forcibly placed into a police pickup before being transported to the Monrovia Central Prison. However, sources told FrontPage Africa that he was released shortly afterward and was seen heading to the CDC headquarters.
