COLOMBO, Nov. 17 -- A week-long specialized Textile Training and Capacity Building Program in India for a 30-member delegation of Sri Lankan handloom and powerloom craftsmen concluded on Saturday (15). Representing two key segments of Sri Lanka's textile industry, the delegation participated in intensive technical and hands-on sessions aimed at upgrading skills, deepening industry expertise, and fostering innovation to strengthen the sector's global competitiveness.

The initiative follows the commitment made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Sri Lanka in April 2025, where he announced 700 customised annual training slots for Sri Lankan professionals across various sectors.
