COLOMBO, Oct. 30 -- A new Mahatma Gandhi Model Village built with Indian grant assistance was inaugurated in Ampara on Wednesday (29), providing permanent housing to 24 low-income families under a joint initiative between Sri Lanka and India.
The project was formally inaugurated by the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, and Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply, Dr Susil Ranasinghe. The event was also attended by Deputy Ministers T.B. Sarath and Wasantha Piyathissa, as well as Member of Parliament Priyantha Wijerathna.
