COLOMBO, Jan. 6 -- The Sri Lanka Journalists for Global Justice (SLJGJ) has strongly condemned the United States' military action against Venezuela and the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Saturday (3), describing the operation as wanton, illegitimate and a serious violation of international law.

In a statement issued on Monday (4), the SLJGJ said the incident had drawn widespread condemnation globally and warned that such actions undermine the rules-based international order, particularly the principles of state sovereignty and territorial integrity enshrined in international law.
