COLOMBO, Dec. 17 -- Showery weather conditions are expected to persist across Northern and Eastern parts of Sri Lanka over the next 36 hours due to the influence of an easterly wave, the Department of Meteorology said on Wednesday (17).
According to the forecast, intermittent showers are likely in the North-Central, Eastern, Uva, and Central Provinces, with heavy rainfall exceeding 100 millimetres possible in some locations in the Eastern, Uva, and Central Provinces, as well as in the Polonnaruwa district.
The Meteorology Department also warned of several spells of showers in the Northern and North-Western Provinces, with showers or thundershowers likely to develop in other parts of the island after 1:00 p.m., with fairly heavy rainfall...
