Dhaka, June 18 -- Bangladesh-China Power Company Ltd (BCPCL) on Monday signed a contract with an Indonesian company to import coal for operation of its 660 MW capacity Unit-1 of 1320 MW Coal-fired Payra Power Plant in Patuakhali.

As per the contract, Indonesian firm PT Bayan Resources Tbk will supply the required coal for the Unit-1 of the power plant so that it could start power generation from December next.

Bangladesh's state-owned North-West Power Generation Company Ltd and Chinese China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CMC) have jointly formed the BCPCL to set up the power plant.
