Kathmandu, May 14 -- Amid reservations from the conflict victims and human rights organisations over the selection process, the government has appointed office bearers in two transitional justice commissions.

The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday appointed former high court judge Mahesh Thapa as chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Liladevi Gadtaula, former chief secretary, as chair of the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP).

"The appointments have been made as recommended by the search committee," Ajay Chausariya, minister for law, justice and parliamentary affairs, told the Post.
