Anantnag, June 3 -- while displaying exemplary synergy, Forest Department, Pahalgam Development Authority and Revenue Department on Wednesday foiled a bid land encroachment at Frislan Pahalgam and retrieved around 10 Kanals of forest land.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Lidder Forest Division, Sheikh Mehraj told Early Times that they launched anti-encroachment drive after Range officer Pahalgam spotted few local residents encroaching land by fencing the land with bribed wire.
"We had already retrieved the land but few days back few locals while taking undue advantage of lockdown were fencing the area," he said, adding the land is question is part of block Chandanwari and falls in Compartment number 14AC.
