Sri Lanka, Jan. 24 -- The water levels in the Moragahakanda Reservoir has reached spill level following the recent heavy rains.

Reservoir Engineer-in-Charge P.S. Bandara has warned people residing near the Amban River to be alert about imminent floods as he would be compelled to open the spill gates to release excess water if rains were to continue.

The spill level of the Moragahakanda reservoir is 185 feet (58 metres) above sea level. It has a capacity of 465,000 acre-feet.
