Sri Lanka, Nov. 21 -- A woman has filed a court case claiming that Sri Lankan cricketer Chamika Karunaratne is the father of her two-month-old child and has refused to take responsibility.

Speaking to the media after attending the hearing today, she said Karunaratne had not appeared in court, informing officials that he was unwell.

"Chamika Karunaratne is this child's father. Because he has refused to accept responsibility, I have been forced to come to court to request a paternity test," she said.

She added that Karunaratne had "wasted her time" at the Women and Children Bureau during her pregnancy and expressed concern that he might not attend future hearings.
