Colombo, March 13 -- A 24-year-old woman arriving from Dubai was arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in connection with the murder of a Buddhist monk at a temple in Wettewa in 2022.
Police said that Seeduwa Police launched an investigation after a Buddhist monk was found strangled to death, with property theft also reported on September 14, 2022.
It was later revealed that the murder was carried out by another monk at the same temple, and the woman, who was living abroad, had conspired with the suspect monk.
Following further investigations, details regarding the female suspect were presented to the court, and a travel ban was imposed on her.
