Sri Lanka, Oct. 31 -- The Judicial Service Commission has suspended the duties of Wellawaya Magistrate Manjula Ratnayake with effect from October 30, following a complaint by the Inspector General of Police.

The suspension comes after an investigation by the Judicial Service Commission into allegations raised by the IGP to the Chief Justice regarding several of Ratnayake's case decisions.

The probe focuses on alleged misconduct related to the lifting of travel bans and the release of goods submitted as part of court cases.

Manjula Ratnayake, who previously served at the Colombo Magistrate's Court, had been transferred to Wellawaya.
