Sri Lanka, July 17 -- The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Meteorology Department has advised naval and fishing communities not to venture into sea areas extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Matara and Hambantota over the next 24 hours due to rough sea conditions.

The Department warned that these areas are likely to experience strong gusty winds ranging from 55 to 65 kmph, making the seas rough or very rough. Wave heights are expected to reach approximately 2.5 to 3.0 meters.

Fishermen and naval operators in sea areas from Galle to Puttalam via Colombo are also urged to remain vigilant, as rough conditions may extend across a broader region. There is a risk of coastal surges due to sea waves in the nearshore areas from Puttal...
