Sri Lanka, Dec. 5 -- Some stocks of vegetables that survived the recent cyclone are currently reaching the market but there will be a shortage soon, a trader attached to the Manning Market said yesterday.

Former President Manning Market Traders Association S. M. Upasena told Daily Mirror that few stocks of vegetables which survived the disaster keep coming to the market from the disaster hit areas.

"These stocks of vegetables prevented a large price hike as anticipated as a result of the disaster," he said.

"However, prices could go up when the current stocks are over in a few days time," he added.

A kilo of beans cost more than Rs 1,000 at the movement according to Upasena while a kilo of carrots had gone up to Rs 800. A kilo of chil...
