Sri Lanka, Sept. 1 -- Secretary of the University of Wolverhampton Christine Fraser, in a letter addressed to the office of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, has confirmed that Mr. Wickremesinghe and his spouse were officially invited to the event held in 2023.

She confirmed that the former President, his spouse and the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in the UK Saroja Sirisena, were invited to the convocation of Prof. Maithree Wickremesinghe and to the luncheon.

Earlier,the UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena argued that Mr. Wickremesinghe's tour to London was constitutional. He said an Executive President has to discharge his duties, in line with law and international practices, under Article 33(h) of the Constitution.
