Srilanka, Jan. 28 -- At least two Indian fishermen sustained gunshot injuries and 11 others were arrested during a confrontation with the Sri Lanka Navy in seas off Kankesanthirai early this morning, when the Navy tried to seize an unruly crew of Indian poachers, police said.
The police media spokesman said the injured fishermen who are not in serious condition have been hospitalised in Jaffna, while 11 other crew members were placed under custody.
Meanwhile, a senior naval officer told the Daily Mirror that the sailors had to bring the unruly poachers under control with minimum force when the latter had tried to manhandle and grab their weapons.
KKS Police are conducting investigations.
