Sri Lanka, July 8 -- A team of wildlife conservators grappling to save the life of the tusker in Maho wildlife zone popularly known as "Bhathiya" said the jumbo was in a precarious condition.

Department of Wildlife Conservation has taken steps to provide treatment to the tusker that has been lying in critical condition in the oozy land in Polpithigama for several days. The officials attempted to lift the jumbo from the muddy pool, but to no avail. However, they have been able to move it a little away for the convenience of feeding and providing treatment.

Wildlife officials said they are providing treatment to the jumbo based on laboratory test reports on blood and phlegm samples.
