Srilanka, May 16 -- Indices closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as Melstacorp, Sampath Bank and Commercial Bank with the turnover crossing Rs. 4.5 bn.

High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in John Keells Holdings, Melstacorp and Amaya Leisure.

Mixed interest was observed in Lanka Realty Investments, LOLC Holdings and Commercial Bank whilst retail interest was noted in Browns Investments, LOLC General Insurance and Prime Lands Residencies.

Furthermore, foreigners closed as net sellers. The Banking sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to Commercial Bank and Sampath Bank) whilst the sector index gained 1.27%.
