Sri Lanka, July 16 -- Colombo High Court Judge Lanka Jayaratne today postponed the trial of three individuals accused of attempting to assassinate former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka in a 2006 suicide bomb attack at Army Headquarters.

The postponement was ordered after a prosecution witness, who was scheduled to testify, failed to appear in court.

Deputy Solicitor General Lakmali Karunanayake, appearing on behalf of the Attorney General, requested a new date to continue the examination of evidence. The trial is now scheduled to resume on August 4.
