Sri Lanka, Nov. 7 -- A tourist riding on bicycle along the Galge road in Buttala who ignored the advise of a tourist guide transporting a tourist couple, to be cautious of wild elephants and leopards frequenting the road had encountered a leopard within a short distance.

The tourist guide Sam Siriwardene of Unawatuna said he warned the tourist that he would face the danger of wild animals since the bicycle was not a safe vehicle on the jungle road.

"However, he ignored my warning and proceeded only to be pursued by the leopard even before he was out of our sight. Luckily, he managed to speed up and be out of the leopard's reach," Siriwardene said.
