Colombo, Nov. 22 -- The Tourism Promotion Bureau has confirmed that it is monitoring social media posts by foreign tourists that could negatively affect Sri Lanka's reputation.
Chairman Buddhika Hewawasam stated that necessary steps have been taken to alert social media platforms about a foreign tourist involved in posting a video showing an argument with a local person while playing snake in the Weligama tourist sea zone. The video has since been removed following a formal complaint.
The Bureau also raised concerns over another video recently shared online concerning the sexual harassment of a foreign national woman, highlighting its potential impact on the country's tourism sector.
