Srilanka, May 16 -- The government must now move beyond rhetoric and begin practising what it preaches. The results of the recent local government elections should serve as a wake-up call-a clear message from the people that they expect delivery, not excuses.

The past seven months have been spent blaming the previous administration for 76 years of misrule. Ironically, this has now extended to 76 and a half years of blame. Citizens are increasingly asking: Where is the equality before the law that was so strongly promised?
