Colombo, April 14 -- Three Sri Lankan passengers were arrested while attempting to smuggle a stock of Kush and Hashish into the country, concealed in biscuit and chips bags, Customs Additional Director and Spokesman Sivali Arukgoda said.
He said the suspects had arrived in Sri Lanka from Bangkok on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-403. They were apprehended while trying to evade Customs checks.
Following investigations, Customs officers discovered 1.616 kilograms of Kush and 1.762 kilograms of Hashish, with an estimated street value of nearly Rs. 45 million.
Two of the suspects are residents of the Colombo area, while the third is from the Badulla area.
