Sri Lanka, Nov. 28 -- Three members of one family were killed when a landslide buried a house on Old Railway Yard Road in Nawalapitiya this morning (28), police said.

According to the Nawalapitiya Police, the victims were a woman, her mother-in-law and a three-month-old infant. The landslide was triggered by heavy rainfall that had lashed the area.

Residents and police officers made repeated efforts to rescue those trapped, but their attempts were unsuccessful.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the area amid ongoing adverse weather.
