Sri Lanka, Feb. 1 -- Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa has accused the government of betraying young people and teachers who supported it during the period when it was in opposition.

Addressing journalists in Kamburupitiya, Rajapaksa said that despite an existing shortage of teachers and prior agreements on recruitment procedures, qualified individuals are now being denied appointments for political reasons. He claimed that many of these teachers had met the required qualifications and had even secured legal recognition for their recruitment process.
