Sri Lanka, Dec. 5 -- A 29-year-old Tanzanian woman gave birth at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) after arriving from Dubai this morning.

The passenger, who had arrived on Fitz Air flight 8D-822 and was waiting at the Airport Transit Terminal to depart for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, experienced labor pains and was immediately referred to the Airport Medical Treatment Center.

With the assistance of doctors and nurses, she gave birth to a baby boy. Both mother and child were then prepared for transfer to Negombo General Hospital via ambulance for further treatment.
