Sri Lanka, Sept. 11 -- Suspicion has been raised over the sudden death of a 24-year-old mother at the Monaragala District General Hospital.

The victim identified as P. Shyamali Madhushani of Siri Wijayapura, Monaragala had been admitted to Ward Six of the hospital on September 8 for surgery, after first seeking treatment for a toothache.

However, she died later that same afternoon while under medical care.

Hospital sources said the patient had developed complications, while the postmortem revealed she had been suffering from an infection.

However, her husband, E. K. Nuwan Lakmina, has raised suspicion over the circumstances of her death and urged hospital authorities to carry out a fair and formal inquiry.
