Sri Lanka, Nov. 25 -- A police constable attached to the Delwala Police was injured after a car attempted to flee during an inspection in Udapebotuwa, Nivitigala, police said.
According to reports, the incident occurred when officers tried to inspect a parked car. The driver, reportedly wanted by police, attempted to escape, and a constable tried to stop the vehicle by holding on to its bonnet. He was dragged for approximately one and a half kilometres before falling.
The suspect abandoned the car on a side road and fled. The injured constable was admitted to the Ratnapura Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Investigations are underway to arrest the suspect.
