Sri Lanka, Sept. 12 -- Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Parliamentarian Sujeewa Senasinghe has withdrawn a letter convening the inaugural meeting of a proposed Sri Lanka-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Association, acknowledging it was issued in error.

The initial notice, dated 4 September, had invited MPs to join the association and attend an inaugural meeting scheduled for 12 September at Parliament.

In a statement, Senasinghe said the letter was the result of an "error and lapse" and confirmed that he has informed all relevant authorities in writing to cancel the initiative.
