Sri Lanka, Oct. 28 -- A new gazette notification has been issued amending the rules applicable to the payment period and levy of taxes on alcoholic products.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, as the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, issued the relevant gazette notification effective from today.

This Gazette is hereby published, declaring that every licensee shall pay tax on or before the due date under Section 22 of the Excise Ordinance.

The announcement further noted that the bottling license of a licensee who fails to pay the tax or fee in full within 30 days from the due date will be suspended.
