Sri Lanka, Aug. 14 -- Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sathish Gamagedara, attached to the Cultural Division of the Police Field Force Headquarters, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, was ordered to be remanded until August 19 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Pavithra Sanjeewani Pathirana.
It is alleged that during his tenure as SSP in charge of the Galle and Embilipitiya Police Divisions, the suspect opened three bank accounts at private banks under the name of another person and deposited approximately Rs. 14 million, purportedly received as bribes from organised criminals, individuals seeking police services, and other offenders.
