Sri Lanka, Jan. 9 -- Pilgrims can now safely access Sri Pada via the Hatton route, as the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has confirmed that there is no longer a risk of landslides in the Mahagiridamba area, Venerable Dorapane Sumanajothi Thera said.

Speaking following an inspection carried out yesterday (8), the Thera said NBRO officials assessed the previously affected area and determined that it is now safe for pilgrims. Access along the Hatton road had been restricted earlier after a large mound of earth collapsed in the Mahagiridamba area due to Cyclone Ditwah, raising concerns over a potential landslide risk.
