Sri Lanka, Feb. 19 -- In a landmark environmental initiative, the Sri Pada pilgrimage site was officially launched as a plastic-free zone today (19) at the Nallathanniya and Ratnapura entrances.
The move comes under the "Samanola Siri Haritha Wandana" national programme, jointly organised by the Environment Ministry, Ministry of State Security, Ministry of Public Administration, and the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat.
The campaign aims to safeguard the World Heritage Samanala Wewa Sanctuary from plastic and polythene pollution, ensuring a pristine environment for future generations.
