Srilanka, Jan. 29 -- Ramal Siriwardena has resigned from his position as Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB), the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation said.

This marks the second resignation in almost a month of a chairman appointed by the National People's Power (NPP) government.

Last month, Dr. Senesh Bandara resigned as Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).

A Ministry spokesperson confirmed that Siriwardena has submitted his resignation letter to the Minister a few days ago, citing personal reasons for his decision.

This was Siriwardena's fourth term as SLTB Chairman, having been reappointed in October 2024 by then Minister of Transport Vijitha Herath.
